Many successful countries such as Germany, USA, Finland etc., built up in time a set of virtues and a mentality that allows them to be very productive and efficient. Germans have „Deutsche Tugenden”, Americans have „the Can-Do spirit” and the Finnish, the heroes of modern education, have the national spirit „Sisu” etc.
Their virtues speak of fierce tenacity, determination, courage and optimism, of the ability to resist where others would have long given up, of the sense of duty and the pride of perfectionism, modesty, diligence and efficiency, moderation, tolerance and incorruptibility – whatever it takes, the train must arrive in the station every day right on time!
The common goal of all these sets of virtues is to give each and every member of the community the sense of their own valuable contribution and thus encourage them to be productive members of society.
Who has not heard of the success stories of Romanians who, once arrived in another country, embrace immediately that culture, virtues, and spirit and start working like no one else does? It means that these values, so easily and efficiently adopted among strangers, lay hidden in each of us, Romanians. When we will succeed to activate them at home, only then Romania will be able to become a truly great nation.
Until then, „laissez-faire” prevails unhindered, hanging over any initiative like a black cloud predicting that we cannot change anything. And we do not change anything. As if we do not care. As if we have immediately lost direction, the will to succeed, the control over our own destiny.
I propose we should regain control over our own lives and destinies and adopt our own set of virtues: RE:START ROMÂNIA in everyday life!
I strongly believe that only when we alone will decide to give a „restart”, to fully dedicate ourselves to some values that will define ourselves, to assume and embrace a correct, optimistic, courageous behavior, only then we will regain control over our own destiny.
We must reinvent our perspective on life in order to be able to overcome the problems we are facing and at the same time to create a nation of people not only more confident in themselves but also capable of working better together.
The more Romanians will adopt a new mentality in their everyday life, the faster this new spirit will help us take our destiny into our own hands and shape it in order to build up a better future.
Romanians will not be a winning team in History’s Games unless they take upon themselves – one and all – a common spirit, a set of values to represent us and define our destiny – as people and country.
First and foremost we need to restart the national spirit and this is our mission at RE: START ROMÂNIA. Every Romanian should sign an engagement for a new mentality, a restart of the Romanian spirit based on a set of values to lead us both in the great decisions and the everyday life.
We all should sign an engagement for the following virtues: determination, tenacity, courage, persistency, optimism, ability to continue fighting even when others would have long given up, result oriented, sense of duty, punctuality, hard work, efficiency, diligence, perfectionism, precision, sincerity, modesty, honesty, perseverance, moderation, tolerance, incorruptibility, shortly – make sure that the train arrives in the station every day right on time.
Let’s behave as responsible citizens and convince the ones next to us to embrace the same principles, thus starting the rebirth of the Romania we love.
